Bianca Meli (b. 2003) is an emerging Sydney-based artist who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School in 2025 and is currently working as an artist as well as a life model across New South Wales. As well as her studies at the National Art School, she has undertaken a series of rigorous workshops in classical painting techniques at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence. Combining these contemporary and classical influences, Bianca works primarily with oil paints, creating dreamlike, vivid compositions of figures in worlds both strange and familiar. Bianca has exhibited across Sydney in group exhibitions in spaces such as Goodspace Gallery and 25b Gallery, and has works held in multiple private collections.
Her works touch on themes of identity, memory and storytelling, embracing the human need for mythmaking and symbol to give form to our experiences. Informed by her love of classical painting methods and appreciation for the timeless emotive power of the human figure, she often uses her own likeness within her paintings to create an intimate conversation with the viewer where lines between subject and object are blurred, collapsing the distinction between artist and muse. Her process is introspective, transforming memories and associations into dramatic encounters, often using motifs of wolves, birds, contorted or repeated figures, and glowing lights to populate her strange worlds.
